Gliffy
Gliffy is an on online drawing and flowcharting application.
Most people who give presentations or write research papers need a flowcharting application. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint provide some flowcharting features but they are very cumbersome to use. The dominant application up until now was Microsoft Visio (or OmniGraffle on Mac) but it is an expensive application to purchase for occasional uses.
Gliffy aims to provide a replacement for Microsoft Visio. Although it may not be as powerful as Visio it more than adequate. And best of all it is free.
Gliffy provides three major advantage over Visio:
1. Online collaboration with simultaneous editing by multiple users
2. Online storage of documents so that users can access and edit documents from any computer without having to worry about Visio being installed
3. As Gliffy diagrams are stored on the internet they can be inserted into any blog or wiki by just embedding an HTML link
It also supports versioning system so that previous versions of the diagram are automatically stored.
